This Orono home renovation was about defining a new kind of luxury: one rooted in simplicity and comfort. For this open-concept space, our clients wanted to blend modern architectural elements with the cozy feel of a lakeside cabin. At Laghmich Design and Remodeling, we utilized extensive 3D modeling to visualize how natural light from the massive sliding doors would interact with a serene, neutral palette.
Architectural Lighting: The centerpiece is the custom-built bulk ceiling over the island. We installed layered LED strip lighting to create a warm, halo-like glow that illuminates the cooking zone and provides ambient warmth in the evening.
The Heart of the Home: We anchored the minimalist living area with a dramatic, matte-black cylindrical wood-burning stove resting on a sleek glass hearth. This element provides a striking industrial contrast to the light wood flooring and adds essential Minnesota "cozy" factor.
The Ultimate Pantry Wall: One of our most proud features is the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry wall. We utilized pull-out pantry drawers to maximize storage, keeping the overall footprint clean and uncluttered. We also integrated the double ovens seamlessly into this bank of cabinetry.
Minimalist Island Organization: The island is a masterclass in functional design. We built in custom storage for wine bottles and integrated hanging racks for stemware, proving that a simple design can have massive organizational power.
